Over the past week, your children have enjoyed special chapels where they learned more about this year’s Fun Run Mission: Run for the Bus. The students heard the story of how Pastor Rosa Colbert turned a tragedy into a call to action. Through prayer she found forgiveness for the young men who brutally murdered her son. In 1995, she opened the Albert T. Mills Enrichment Center and has since invested her life and all her resources to serve those pre-school children most at risk, going into some of Atlanta’s toughest neighborhoods and finding the children who most need intervention and love. The goal of the center is to help children to start kindergarten among the best prepared in their class, giving them a strong start in school that will help them succeed throughout their school years. This success will help them avoid the hopelessness that can lead to destructive behavior.

All students have been encouraged to find a way that they can take action to help in our mission. Some students will raise money by walking and soliciting pledges; some will sponsor other students if they can’t walk; still others will give their time to volunteer. This is a great opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others, and there is a way for everyone to be a part of it. What will you do?

This year, we are excited to announce that Sprong Children’s Shoes will provide a free pair of athletic shoes to the boy and girl who walk the most laps. Everyone’s a winner with the Fun Run!

If you haven’t signed up yet, it’s not too late. Download the Fun Run Pledge form and Spring Fling Picnic reservation form here. We will accept applications and lunch reservations through Tuesday, April 22nd. After that, you can register for the Fun Run onsite starting at 8:45 Saturday morning. Lunch is not guaranteed for late registrants but will be provided on a first come, first served basis. Choice of t-shirt size may be limited for late registrants, so be sure to register by the 22nd. Mark your calendar for these important dates:

April 26th: Spring Fling – Fun Run, Picnic, and Kids Carnival
Start walking anytime between 9 am and 12 noon. The Picnic will be held in the Pre-school parking lot.

April 30th: Turn pledges in and pick up new t-shirts at the South Campus Athletic Fields during morning and afternoon carpool.
 
May 2nd: Everyone wear their new Fun Run t-shirts to school (uniform bottoms must be worn).
