Congratulations to the HIES Science Olympiad Team for placing fourth in the State Olympiad Competition at Gainesville State College on March 28!
On Saturday morning, led by their fearless faculty leaders Janet Silvera and James Jackson, students packed their study notes, calculators, rubber band powered planes, robot, trebuchet, balsa wood bridge and a car powered by a system of pulleys and falling masses, and headed to Gainesville in the pouring rain.
Students competed in 23 individual events against the top 28 schools in Georgia. The contributions of all team members helped HIES score enough points to place, once again, among the top four schools in the state, continuing their remarkable run of success in recent years.
