TO OUR LOWER SCHOOL PARENTS: Yesterday afternoon, technical difficulties caused us to send an email from last December. We apologize for any confusion. Below is the correct Lower School Newsletter for this week.

September 12, 2008

Dear Parents,

Thank you for your overwhelming attendance at our Open House and the Grade Level Parent Meetings. It was wonderful seeing all of you, as it is essential that you are a partner in your child’s education. Below are a few updates from the Lower School.

The Gates:

The gates are located by the Lower School Office and the entrance to Parish Hall. The gates create a secure location for our children as the gates are always locked.

A lovely garden was planted this summer that includes benches and a beautiful birdbath. The birdbath was a donation from Brownie Troop 3343. Our thanks goes to Lauren Collins, Clarissa Colton, Kaylee Correll, Marina Craig, Anna Crumpler, Ansley Earle, Amanda Gibson, Parker Hammonds, Anna Beth Hopper, Kendall Jabaley, Darya Khani, Virginia Pittman, and Carson Staples. It adds to the restful setting of the garden. The garden provides an outdoor classroom setting and a quite place for students to finish work or read a book. A bit of calm in our busy routine.

Picture Day:

Monday, September 15th is Picture Day for the Lower School. Your children will have their individual photographs taken in the FAB. If your child is absent, a make up day will be scheduled.

Parking Spaces:

Please remember that the Carpool Queen and King parking spaces located by the Lower School are reserved spaces throughout the school day. At the Spring Gala, the spaces will be back on the auction block for your bidding pleasure!

September’s Opportunity for Donation: School Supplies

The collection of school supplies this month will help the children at Emmaus House. The LS will be collecting spiral notebooks, pencils, pens, erasers, colored markers, crayons, construction paper, pencil bags, etc. Collection baskets will be in the LS front office the week of September 15th – 19th. On Wednesday and Friday we will have a morning carpool collection. For more information about the good works of Emmaus House, visit www.emmaushouse.org. Thank you in advance for your help.

Fundraising:

Sally Foster and Virginia Diner orders are due on Friday, September 19th.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Terri
