Programs Overview

At Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School, we believe that education and social-emotional learning continue beyond school hours. For our Primary and Lower School students, we offer a fun and creative after-school care program known as Bears After-School Experience (BASE) as well as weekly After-Class Enrichment (ACE) courses in the areas of athletics, fine arts and STEAM. For our Middle School students, we offer a supervised study hall known as Middle School Bear Den.

Registration for our Winter/Spring after-school programs will open in early November. You may register your children for our programs here.

Bears After-School Experience (BASE)

BASE is an extended day program open for all HIES students in PK3 through fifth grade. Our program offers a safe, structured and fun environment for your children which begins the moment the school day finishes and runs until 6 p.m. Each day we provide age-appropriate activities such as our daily group activities, homework time, outdoor free play and organized games, structured indoor games, puzzles and books. BASE + Bear Den Registration Information

Students can be registered as a regular attendee or a drop-in student.
All registrations must be completed online. When you register, you will receive a confirmation email with your family account statement.
Registration must be completed before a student can attend BASE, even as a drop-in.
If you are registering a student for ACE and BASE on the same day, please choose the BASE option ACE Participants only. This option deducts the cost of care for the weeks your student is in ACE.
The drop-in program is based on availability and a 24 hours’ notice is preferred.
Regular attendees are enrolled by the semester. Students are registered on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no proration of fees for partial semester enrollment.

BASE Dismissal Guidelines

Only authorized persons, 18 years and older that are listed on your registration form will be allowed to pick up your child. You may add additional persons to the check out list by contacting Jessica Vance or Kay Grace.
Primary School children should be signed out from the BASE desk at the Primary School.
Lower School students should be signed out from the BASE desk at the Lower School, located at the Lower School front desk.

BASE Fees

Fees vary based on the number of days and duration of stay. Please see the fee chart below for each semester.
There is an $80 registration fee to secure a student’s place in BASE.
Fees can be paid in three equal installments.
For the Payment Plan for the Fall Semester, fees will be charged to your account on Sept. 15, Oct. 15, and Nov. 15. If you choose the payment plan for the Spring Semester, funds will be charged to your account on Feb. 15, March. 15, and April 15.
Students who are picked up later than the time they are registered for will be billed a late fee of $25 per half hour.
By selecting the Payment Plan you agree to have funds withdrawn from the credit card account you used at the time of registration.
Students are signed up by semester and there is no proration for partial semester enrollment.
Students can be signed up as a drop-in for BASE. The drop-in fee is $25 per hour.
Drop-in fees are billed at the end of each month.

After-Class Enrichment (ACE)

The objective of ACE to offer cost-effective programs to enrich HIES students in the areas of academics, fine arts, STEAM and athletics with the goal of providing an opportunity for every student to be an active participant in the HIES community. Our instructors have worked hard to develop curricula that will keep your students engaged in the after-school space!

Primary School Students

BASE staff will gather students at the 2:45 p.m. dismissal time and feed students a snack.

If you would like for your child to return to BASE after their ACE class, please register them for BASE here.

For ACE pick up, please wait in the carpool lane for checkout. Our ACE staff will bring our students out to you for checkout.

Promptly pick up your student at the end of each class. If you are more than 15 minutes late, the ACE teacher will sign your student into BASE, and the student's account will be charged a $25 per hour drop-in fee.

Lower School Students

If your students are registered for an ACE class, they will sign in at the Maker's Space after school dismissal; our Auxiliary staff will supervise students until ACE classes begin. Please pack students a nut-free snack to eat during this time. We will supervise them for the time between school dismissal and the beginning of their ACE class.

BASE participants and drop-ins must be signed out at the BASE desk. If your student returns to BASE after ACE, you will need to park and walk into the school to check them out with our BASE staff.
