Welcome

When you take your first walk around the Holy Innocents' Episcopal School campus, you will most certainly be impressed with the number of activities occurring outside the "standard classroom." Campus Life plays an invaluable role in the mental, physical and spiritual development of HIES students.

The possibilities for participation in athletics, the fine arts, clubs and activities are truly endless. A young scholar's education is not limited to lectures, writing assignments and exams. As vital as those exercises are to academic growth, we know there are so many wonderful ways to connect what is learned in our textbooks to our everyday lives.

For instance, it's one thing to study the equation that explains how a space shuttle achieves orbit, it's another thing to build your own spaceship in Rocket Club and send it soaring into the deep blue Atlanta sky. Also, students can study the writings of history's great diplomats, but those words and lessons learned do not come to life until our future political scientists have actually worked for consensus among varying and contrasting groups at Model UN.

Speaking of diplomacy, there is no greater "field" of study in which to learn the importance of teamwork than by participating in Middle School and Upper School athletics. Student-athletes at HIES represent the Golden Bears with pride as they work together to achieve a common goal.

The same need for cooperation, leadership and unity are required to produce a successful play, musical or orchestra concert. And for the non-performance artist in all of our students, there are countless outlets and mediums for young minds to express themselves through painting, drawing, sculpting and graphic design, to name but a few.

The ability to apply scholastic knowledge to solve real-world problems is what we at HIES hope to instill in every one of our students. It is this capability that makes HIES graduates exemplary citizens of their community, nation and world. This is Campus Life at Holy Innocents'!
