A group of 13 HIES Swim and Dive athletes competed at the state championship meet last week, bringing home outstanding results. Trevor Sewell '25, who will continue his diving career at Howard University, claimed the state title in the 1-meter diving event, and several swimmers also set new school records during the competition. Jake Alston '26 broke the boys’ 50-yard freestyle record, while Lucy Greene '25 did the same for the girls' record. Jake Alston '26, Thomas Bykat '25, Bobby Skrynecki '27 and Liam Wells '25 also set a new school record in the boys’ 400-yard freestyle relay. The boys' team also placed sixth in the overall state rankings. Congratulations to the Aqua Bears on a great season!
