Celebrated Poet Willie Perdomo Visits Upper School

In celebration of National Poetry Month, acclaimed poet and author Willie Perdomo visited campus on Wednesday, April 9. Mr. Perdomo, the current Poet Laureate for the state of New York, began the day with a breakfast meet and greet with faculty and staff before engaging Upper School students and teachers in a lunchtime conversation about poetry and creative expression. Throughout the day, he led workshops in Upper School English classes, offering students insight into the poetic process. Perdomo is the award-winning author of several books of poetry and children's books. His work has appeared in The New York Times Magazine and the Washington Post, and he is the recipient of honors including the PEN Open Book Award and the Foundation for Contemporary Arts Cy Twombly Award for Poetry. Thank you to Mr. Perdomo for providing this meaningful opportunity for our students and faculty!
