Holy Innocents' Episcopal School congratulates our fifth-grade students who were recognized for their completion of Lower School at their final Lower School Chapel on Wednesday, May 17. Faculty and parents offered a blessing over the fifth-graders as they transition to Middle School next year.
The service included the presentation of awards for academic achievement, citizenship and service, and the Alan A. Lewis Award, which is the Lower School’s highest honor. It is given each year to a rising sixth-grader who exhibits high standards of academic achievement, citizenship and leadership. The late Gerald A. Lewis and his wife, Jeanine Lewis, established the Alan A. Lewis Award in memory of their son, Alan, who was an honor student at HIES. The honor includes an award and funds to go toward tuition at HIES. The 2023 recipient of the Alan A. Lewis Award is Andrew Coley (in photo with Paul Barton, head of school).
Awards for Classroom Citizenship were given to one student from each homeroom who exhibits qualities or improvement in areas such as hard work, character, good attitude, leadership, respect, perseverance and compassion.
