George Wray Named STAR Student

Senior George Wray is Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School’s 2022 PAGE STAR student for receiving the highest SAT score in the 2020 graduating class and for his academic achievements. As the STAR student, George selected Dan Forrestal, Upper School math and computer science teacher, as his STAR Teacher in gratitude for his influence in the classroom. George plans to study computer science in college.

"George performs at a high academic level while also remaining truly dedicated to his school community, and committed to his classmates and teammates, day in and day out," Mr. Forrestal said. "He is a young man of many talents, but also hard working and diligent, and generous with his time."

The PAGE Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program is sponsored, administered and promoted by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) and the PAGE Foundation. Since its inception in 1958 the STAR program has honored nearly 27,500 students and the teachers selected as the most influential to their academic achievement. High school seniors must have the highest score on a single test date on the SAT and be in the top 10 percent or top 10 students of their class based on grade point average to qualify for STAR nomination.

STAR begins each year in participating Georgia high schools when the STAR Student is named and chooses a STAR Teacher to share in this recognition. The students and their teachers are honored by their schools and receive special recognition in their communities from one of the more than 172 statewide civic organizations and businesses that serve as local sponsors of the STAR program.

George is a National Merit Semifinalist and as a member of Cum Laude, National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, National English Honors Society, Rho Kappa and Mu Alpha Theta. He currently serves as Executive President of Student Council, President of the UNICEF Club, a Golden Bear Guide and a member of Youth Leadership Sandy Springs and the Young Men’s Service League. George was named one of Atlanta's 20 Under 20 by Atlanta Intown/Reporter Newspapers in December.
