Today, Friday, Sept. 9, 2022, we celebrate the founding of Holy Innocents' Episcopal School. HIES opened its doors for the first time 63 years ago, on Sept. 9, 1959.

Welcoming 72 students, ages three through first grade, that day was the culmination of many conversations and plans crafted by the vestry of Holy Innocents' Episcopal Church and Atlanta leaders in the educational community. HIES is one of the nation's largest Episcopal schools, enrolling 1,365 students in grades PK3-12. Here, in a uniquely vibrant learning community filled with encouragement and every imaginable opportunity, students are able to explore their talents, pursue their passions and achieve their full potential.
