The HIES Cultural Awareness & Acceptance Partners and HIES' Office of Multicultural Affairs were thrilled to once again host HIES Around the World, the annual all-community multicultural celebration, held this year on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022.
Featuring food, music, crafts, storytelling, art and entertainment, HIES families shared their various traditions and a taste of home with the community. Primary School recorded a video greeting and Lower School students contributed artwork to a beautiful display. Food items included Greek pastitsio, baklava and spanakopita, Dutch stroopwafels, Korean kimbap and Filipino bbq, Korean bulgogi and rice, Cornish cream tea, Polish kielbasa and pierogi, empanadas and German brats.
Attendees enjoyed performances from the Atlanta Chinese Dance Company, Manga African Dance, renowned storyteller Chetter Galloway and mariachi musicians.
"It is very exciting to have HICAAP’s signature event back in-person," Keith White, director of the Office of Multicultural Affairs, said. "HIES Around the World is yet another example of what makes HIES such a special community. It allows members of our community to share their culture and heritage and 'draw the circle wide' as we welcome all to God’s table."
