Olivia Hutcherson '23 Wows in Hometown Game Against Georgia Tech

Olivia Hutcherson '23 returned to Atlanta this weekend in style. A key player on the HIES girls' basketball team during her time as a student, she's helping lead her fellow Princeton University Tigers to victory in much the same way.

On Sunday, Nov. 9, Princeton took down Georgia Tech on their home court, 67-61. Not only did Ms. Hutcherson score a career-high 15 points during the game, she also pulled six rebounds, added four steals and hit two 3-pointers in the effort.

With her team trailing by a single point in the fourth quarter, Ms. Hutcherson grabbed an offensive rebound, scored the basket and added a free throw to give her squad a lead they wouldn’t relinquish. And if all that wasn’t enough, she had to go to the bench after getting fouled and ending up with a bloody nose. But that wasn't enough to stop Ms. Hutcherson – she quickly cleaned up and headed back to the court, helping the Tigers end the game with a win.

In the stands were several familiar faces cheering her on, including former HIES teachers, teammates and classmates such as Reese Neumann '23 and Danielle Elms, English teacher. Ms. Hutcherson's standout performance came as no surprise to these Golden Bears, but watching her excel back home in Atlanta made the moment all the more special.
