Second-grade students and their families stepped into a bit of magic on Thursday, April 16, when the HIES Cross Country course became the whimsical "Fairy Tale Trail!" Over the past few weeks, students have been immersed in classic folklore and fairy tales, such as "The Princess and the Pea," "Three Billy Goats Gruff" and "The Three Little Pigs." During Thursday’s event, parents were invited to stroll along the trail and hear the second-grade students bring these stories to life at storytelling stops throughout the woods. At the end of the path, families found a QR code for each child. When scanned, it revealed a fun surprise—an alternate ending to the tale, imagined, written and recorded by their student! It was a joyful celebration of imagination and a meaningful opportunity for students to share their creativity with their families.
