On Thursday, Jan. 9, students in the Upper School Wind Ensemble enjoyed jazz improvisation workshop taught by a special visitor. Vaughn Ambrose, saxophonist of the Vaughn Ambrose Jazz Sextet and performing arts chair at St. Stephen's and St. Agnes School in Alexandria, Va., visited The 805 this week in anticipation of a Friday evening concert at Holy Innocents' Episcopal Church. While the concert was postponed due to weather, our Wind Ensemble students had a great time pushing their musical boundaries, learning new techniques and exploring the world of improv under expert guidance.
