Setting Up Your Parent Account

If you already have a myHIES account, a Canvas parent account has been created for you.

Use the directions below to verify your Canvas parent account the first time you access Canvas.

Go to https://hies.instructure.com/login/canvas, and click Forgot Password.
Enter the email associated with your myHIES account. Click Next.
Check your email account for instructions to reset your Canvas password.
Set your new Canvas password.
Go to https://hies.instructure.com and click Parent/Guest Login
Log in to Canvas using your myHIES email and your Canvas password.

Notifications
Canvas includes a set of default notification settings. However, you can change the default settings by setting your own notification settings.

To manage your notification settings, please log in to your Canvas account using a web browser. In the menu, click Account, then click Notifications.

Alerts for Student Activity
In the Canvas Parent App, you may set alerts for student activity. In the menu, select Manage Students. Select your student, then set the alerts you would like to receive.

How does my child access Canvas?

Students in grades 4-12 should follow these steps to access Canvas:

Go to https://hies.instructure.com/
Click Student Login
Enter your school email address and the password you use to access your school email.

Students in grades 1-3 should follow these steps to access Canvas:

Go to https://clever.com/in/hies
Click Clever Badge login.
Log in using your Clever badge.
- If you need help with your Clever badge, please contact your homeroom teacher.
Click the Canvas icon.
