Path to HIES OEM: After graduating from Princeton, Cambridge and New York Universities, was a college professor at NYU and Spelman College teaching expository writing and African Diaspora and the World studies. Studied and lived around the world from Edinburgh, Scotland to San Juan, Puerto Rico. An author of 5 books, most recently: DIGNITY: Seven Strategies to Create Authentic Community

Hidden passion: I love learning a new word every day. Current favorite word: toothsome

Path to HIES OEM: After graduating from UGA, worked in corporate hospitality during the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, then worked in art gallery in NYC, before moving back to Atlanta to work in family’s printing business

Favorite past HIES tradition that was resurrected:  The Turtle Race

Favorite touristy-thing to do in Atlanta: Ride a bike on the Beltline and eat at The Varsity

Next on bucket list: Grand Canyon/Monument Circle
