Shadow Visits

The Golden Bear Way – Shadow Visits (Grades 4-11)

Discover the Golden Bear Way! There is no better way for students rising to grades 4-11 to experience what it's like to be an HIES student than by being one for a day. Shadowing is a wonderful opportunity for your student. It is optional and not a required part of the application process.

Lower School Shadowing (Grades 4-5) is available from October through February and rising 4th- and 5th-grade students are invited to shadow a current student, attend two classes, lunch and recess. You may register your child through Ravenna. If you wish for your student to have a Golden Bear Shadowing experience, please register them as soon as possible, as space is limited. Shadow appointments will be open for registration, through Ravenna, starting mid-September. 

Middle School Shadowing is available from October through February and rising 6th- through 8th-grade students are invited to shadow a current student, attend one class, lunch and recess. You must register your student through Ravenna. If you wish for your student to have a Golden Bear Shadowing experience, please register them as soon as possible, as space is limited. Shadow appointments will be open for registration, through Ravenna, starting in mid-September. 

Upper School Shadowing is available in January and February for rising 9th- through 12th-grade students. Shadow appointments will be open for registration through Ravenna later in the fall. 

Parent Education Classes

Athletic and Fine Arts Events

You and your family are welcome to attend any upcoming athletic or fine arts events, and we encourage you to do so! All upcoming events of interest can be found on the HIES calendar

Please contact our office with any questions. Sports will be in full swing starting in August and our 5th grade, Middle and Upper School theater productions will dazzle you with their talent and professionalism! The performance lineup begins with a stunning series of Upper School one-act plays, then the 5th-grade play, "Frozen Jr.," the Middle/Upper School musical, "Wizard of Oz," and the year ends with the Middle School play, "A Wrinkle in Time!" Weekly Chapel Services

As an Episcopal School, we have weekly chapel services that affirm both our Christian Episcopal traditions and celebrate religious diversity. They are creative, joyful and inclusive and a time for prayer, to thank God for the blessings of this life and to share stories of meaning and purpose. Golden Bear Athletics Information Session – Mar. 12, 2020

Join us for a comprehensive look at athletics at Holy Innocents’ and hear from the Director of College Counseling about how HIES prepares our student-athletes for the road to collegiate athletics. A tour of our athletic facilities will follow the presentation. Register through Ravenna.
 

STEM-sational Saturday – Mar. 21, 2020

Parents and Children (ages 3-6) - Join us in the Primary School to earn your HIES Engineering Certificate. Activities will be facilitated by our PK3-12 STEAM Director and Upper School Science National Honor Society students. Participants will visit a variety of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) activities, earning stamps of approval in their engineering booklets, trying to earn the HI-est level of Engineering. Some of the activities will include: Launching a Straw Rocket, Building a Sail Car, Completing a Circuit, Programming a Robot, and much, much more!  Register through Ravenna.
