Welcome to Fine Arts at HIES!
At Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School, students are given every opportunity to fully tap into their creative potential through our exciting programs in music, theatre, media literacy and the visual arts. In the past five years, we have added new innovative courses, built state-of-the-art spaces, invested in industry equipment and technology, forged strategic institutional partnerships and made specific faculty hires that have rapidly made HIES a destination school for the arts.
Students get to work with professionals in the industry throughout their time at HIES, because we have faculty who are exhibiting artists, current Hollywood screenwriters, Off-Broadway set designers, SUZI Award-winning actresses and professional musicians, from heavy metal bands to Opera singers to published composers. We are 30 strong in the department – so the school’s commitment to a rich experience and robust course offerings begins in the Primary School. We enhance our faculty with guest artists, choreographers, filmmakers, journalists and clinicians to expose our students to the best of Atlanta and beyond.
There are so many unique opportunities when you engage with the HIES arts experience, both within the school and in the broader Atlanta community. You can see HIES musicians perform as members of the prestigious Atlanta Youth Symphony Orchestra and Atlanta Youth Wind Ensemble. You can see 100 student artists exhibit annually at the High Museum of Art alongside the masters as part of our academic affiliation. Visit our "mini CNN" in the STEM building where student anchors, producers and editors learn to write for TV vs. print, and then take their skills on the road to events like TEDX. Our productions are regularly nominated for the Shuler Hensley awards and have been regional winners at the GHSA One Act Play competition. Our students are creating original compositions for Spotify in our recording studio and writing original films and animated shorts that are shown at the local movie theatre.
At Holy Innocents’, students of all ages will explore their passions, learn something new, develop diverse talents, have fun and make a valuable artistic contribution to our community.
Thank you,
