HIES Illness Policy for 2020-2021 Academic Year
Students experiencing one or more COVID-19 symptoms must stay home for a minimum of 48 hours. Prior to returning to school, he/she must be fever/nausea/vomiting/diarrhea-free without medication for 48 hours, all other symptoms must resolve, and one must either obtain a COVID-19 viral test with a negative result OR be evaluated by a physician and provide a signed school clearance note.
Symptoms of COVID-19 include: body aches, chills, shortness of breath, runny nose, congestion that is a significant change, temperature of 100.0 or greater, dry cough, loss of taste and smell, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, sore throat, fatigue and weakness.
HIES will not accept antibody test results as clearance for school.
Please email illness details, updates, and doctor's notes or COVID-19 test results to your division nurse.
If anyone in your household tests positive for COVID-19, please keep all HIES students home and contact your division nurse ASAP.

Magnus Health, a HIPAA and FERPA compliant system, manages our student health records. Magnus can be accessed by logging in to myHIES and clicking on the Magnus icon located on the Resources board. Please complete all Magnus forms for each new and returning student. These forms are required for school attendance.
