HIES at the HIGH Museum - Dec. 8th, 1-3pm

To celebrate Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School's sixth year as an academic affiliate of the High Museum of Art, we have organized an afternoon of events on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 1-3 p.m., that will appeal to all age groups! Join us as we celebrate all HIES has to offer in the Fine Arts!
Activities and performances will include:

Special tours by "Motor Lisa," a robot docent, created by our Upper School engineering and Foundations of Arts Honors students in the Contemporary art gallery. You will learn about extraordinary artists like Radcliffe Bailey, Julie Mehretu and Alex Katz whose works provide a fresh interpretation of the world around us. You can also visit with our Engineering students to learn more about how this semester-long project came to life!

A reception for 75 Primary School through Upper School artists in the education gallery will allow your budding artist to see what is possible when they continue to create and engage in our art studios.

The Coding for Art students will be projecting artwork in the Atrium created using a programming language called processing. These pieces provide the opportunity to explore the making of art through the use of computer science. Welcome to the future!

High Museum staff and docents will lead tours through the newly hung permanent collection. With old favorites, new acquisitions, and previously stored artworks now on view, the redesigned collections embrace growth and diversity while creating dynamic and engaging experiences for the HIES community. Be prepared to see the museum with fresh eyes!

HIES is celebrating a new partnership with the Atlanta Opera with a special performance in the Atrium of the High Museum. In February, the sold out “Barber of Seville” will be performed for the entire lower school at HIES, but you can enjoy a preview aria under the magnificent newly painted Sol LeWitt painting.
Younger visitors will enjoy the totally redesigned Greene Family Learning Gallery with all-new interactive environments created in collaboration with the Roto design firm.

Find your inner artist! Come create works of art to take home in the maker spaces of the High Museum.

Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate our community of artists, designers and performers!
