Finish line! Cross country finished its best season ever, with the boys taking third in state, the girls fourth, and Jackie Addy winning the individual crown. Hayden Puett (5th overall), also made All-State, while Maddie Poch, Jessica McNair, Erin Hill, Caroline Lyles and Maddie Lowe were solid as well. Brandon Sertl, James Watson, William Welden, Colin Peters, Aidan Zeissner, Liam Hill, and Porter Null paced the boys. Congrats on another great season!
Touchdown! Football (5-5) advanced to the playoffs with a 54-0 shellacking over Our Lady of Mercy. With the victory, the Bears will take on Mount de Sales in the first round of state Friday in Macon. Michael Cox, Matt Davis, Ronny Williams, Kedar Henry, Hall O’Neal, Hunter Hawk, Graham Collins, and Sam Aiken were just a few of last Friday’s stars.
Hoops! Varsity basketball - girls and boys - scrimmage Thursday at Woodstock High School...8th grade girls lost to St Pius Saturday. Zaynah Preston scored 13 points, Kathleen Nichols led the rebounding, and both Reese Martin and Reese Neumann also played well…7th grade girls fell to Atlanta Select, but got good hustle from Grayson Roberts, Sumner Copeland, and Riley Horgan.
Splash and pin: The swim team opens Thursday at GAC, as our state contending team looks to build on last year's successes. Wrestling also cranks up Saturday at Dunwoody High School and is expected to be competitive once again.
Postseason honors! The softball team was represented in postseason, with Branan Cobb named First Team All-Region pitcher and Charlsie Birkel First Team infielder. The Bears advanced to the Sweet 16, finishing one of the best seasons in HIES softball history.
