Throughout the Academic Year
Continue to pursue a challenging course load as appropriate, and maintain strong grades. Colleges and universities wish to see students challenge themselves to the extent that they can, and maintain solid grades throughout their senior year.

All Year
Continue your involvements and seek leadership positions.

August - Optional - College Application Boot Camp  
Seniors may get a jump-start on their college essays, application paperwork, and interview preparation through this weeklong institute held on campus (see Summer Connections information to register).

September - College Night for Seniors and Parents
The counselors review the nuts and bolts of college application timelines, procedures, and preparations for seniors and parents.

October, November, & December - Standardized Testing
Students are encouraged to take a second SAT exam and additional SAT Subject Tests as necessary, or the ACT.

September – October - One-on-one Student/Counselor Meetings
College counselors schedule several individual meetings throughout the fall with seniors. These meetings occur during free periods during the day and allow students to ask questions that pertain to their individual application process, to get feedback on essays, and to review timelines. Students are welcome to meet with counselors on a drop-in basis, outside of these scheduled meetings, if further assistance is required.

Fall - Attend College Fairs, Open Houses, and College Receptions.

September – November - Admission Representative Meetings 
Admission representatives from across the country come to Holy Innocents’ annually in the fall to meet with juniors and seniors. The schedule of meetings is posted on Family Connection, in the Counseling Office, publicized in the daily homeroom announcements, and posted on Viewpoint’s Web site.

September - December - Apply to Colleges

Ongoing - Essay & Résumé Writing Counseling 
Seniors may seek individual assistance on effective essay writing tips, get feedback on an essay draft, and learn about how to write a résumé for colleges.

Ongoing - Interviewing Tips
Seniors may seek counseling, on an individual basis, about interviewing tips and mock interviews in preparation for college interviews.

January - Apply for Financial Aid.

March & April - Receive College Admission Decisions

By May 1 - Make College Selection & Submit Deposit

May - AP Exams

May - Graduate!
